Last Big One: No.49 (next: 4th June)

What is it?

The 49 Club is an opportunity for you to try your luck at winning some cash, while at the same time, helping to support our bowling club.

Who runs it?

If you think of Morecome & Wise (not quite), The Chuckle Brothers (almost), or closer still Little and Large, you're in the right bowls park. It's run by our very own Huddy & Keefy, alias Gary Hudson and Keith Wilkins.

This pair of jokers (in the nicest possible way of course), established and take care of the running of the 49 club so jovially that giving them your money feels a real pleasure, until it's all over a minute later and you wonder what happened (maybe you've had that feeling before).

How does it work?

Forty-nine people are on the list when it's full, and each person has a number from 1 to 49. It's based on the lottery draw each Wednesday and Saturday, and if the 'bonus' ball drawn is your number then you have won.

To be in the draw, each member gives £1 per week, with £10 paid out each Wednesday and Saturday, reluctantly handed to the lucky person by a smiling Huddy or Keefy when next they meet, often in the Crossroads Inn on Monday night.

Every thirteen weeks it's 'The Big One', when, on the designated Saturday night, £250, yes that's right 250 smackeroonies, are won by the lucky person with the drawn 'bonus ball' number!!!
